2 weeks after my Half marathon in Murcia, it now was time to lace up for a 10k! This time in the city centre of Alicante, only a couple of km's from where I'm staying. I litteraly see the run course everyday. It almsiot felt as a 'home' race.
Now I knew the run shape was quite good, so I had my hopes high for this one.
From the start I felt that I was the strongest. I Waited a little bit before to make my move after 3km's. I attacked and nobody responded. From then on it still was a long but lonely 7km to the finish. Because the first 3km was relatively slow, the prospect of running a very fast time was gone. But didn't matter, it was good fun and good training! The 7km a ran a cosntant but hard pace on my own, still salvaging a sub 31'00 time for the 10km (with the firtst 3km only being 10'00).
Not to forget, I took the WIN in this one.
Again a good feeling and a great result (that said, the competitors in Murcia were stronger). Super happy to be training here in Spain. And for now (fingers crossed) everything is going fine and heading in the right direction.
No more run races now, but only full focus towards triathlon racing season with the first race being IRONMAN 70.3 Valencia, on the 21st of arpil!
