I qualified myself for the European Champs over the middle distance, because of performing well and consistently in the '23 season. I "only" had to show that I kept this good shape with the races in '24. But this was a bit of a problem due to my bike crash and the not so great results followin hereafter. But still, th national federation gave my the opportunity to race, which I gladly accepted.
To cut a long story short, up until which was about 2 months after the crash in Valencia, I just kept on struggling with my health, picking up one injury after another. My body clearly wasn't fit, but again I made the, not so wise, choice to chase a race and a result.
So I went to Coimbra, Portugal and started the race. The race dynamics turned out really good for me and I managed to finish the bike part right at the front of the race with the leaders! But then, a few 100 meters in the run part, I had to stop and sadly withdraw. An adductor injury, which I had picked up a couple of weeks before but in the meanwhile was feeling quite ok, suddelny started feeling really bad. So much that I had to stop. Echo revealed in torn muscle..
This conclued my first part of the racing season. So very dissapointing, forfaiting pretty much all of my races because of this stupid crash in the end of april, which saw me struggling up untill now, the end of june. Time for some recovering, letting the body heal and start traning again a little bit.
