Sunday 9th of septembre I participated in the final race of the national tri circuit of the Netherlands, for my team SQUADRA. This last race is traditionally a team relay. Short and fast action guaranteed!
Same as last year, SQUADRA was able to set up a strong team and the victory had to be ours. Each team consists of 4 athletes, each completing a mini triathlon. I had to go last, relying on my fast run if it would come down to a duel in the final run. My teammates did a great job and the 3rd man gave me an advantage of over 30 sec to start my race. I did my best, but kept it under control as I was in a comfortable lead. I swam the 380m, biked the 7k and ran the 2k on my own, only making the gap bigger.
In the end, I finished over 2 minutes clear of the rest of the field securing the day’s victory! SQUADRA won the team relay race as well as the general classification of the whole year, the second year in row! Very proud of the team!
