Olympic Distance triathlon St Martens Latem

Beautiful weather, beautiful race venue and a beautiful result ;)

One week after my national title, it was time once more to race at the olympic distance. Nothing to prove, except for my newly achieved title!

I was on the starting line again with my teammates who were P2 and 3 last week. So were hoping to perhaps make it a 1, 2, 3 again.

With some tactical blocking and interference of a strong team who had many athletes in the race, it turned out to be tricky. No all out racing, but tactical and with short but super tiring bursts draining the legs. Because of this, the chasers caught the lead pack (and me) by the end of the bike leg. Unavoidably the finishing run would be decisive. I had a quick start and could drop the others. But under a scorching sun and on some gravel roads, it was no easy task and I had to dig deep.

Crossed the line in 1st place again! Very happy to take the win and also confirm my good shape of the last weeks, and honoring my national title ofcourse!

Only 1 race to go on the 21st of july, national holidays, while already been racing over 6 or 7 times in as many weeks. Then it's time for 1 month of solid training before tackling the 2nd part of the season!
