A trip to the field aid station ⛑️ of the Red Cross. Not how I imagined my race at @challengegrancanaria ..
After about 30k on the bike leg of the race, I had an accident with a motorbike and crashed hard. The motorbike was standing still at the side of the road. We were going downhill at high speed. A few seconds before I would pass him, he started moving and crossed the road right in front of me.Nowhere to go, impossible to avoid him, I crashed right on him. I hit the deck hard, as did my bike.
Some typical bruises and shafing, and a deep cut in my hand that needed 5 stitches. A miracle there's nothing more severe like fractures. And my helmet truly saved my head from much worse.Shit happens, but this should not. This is clearly not ok. Nobody should be endangered unnecessarily like this.Nothing to do but rehabilitate as best as I can. I'll see what the next days will bring.
Gran Canaria does not like me I think. last year 2 punctures, now this crash.
