The first part of the season has been a succes. Several wins on national level, some podiums and 2 very nice international results.
Also from a health-related point of view things are better than anytime during the past 4 years. A small ankle niggle showed up in june. No big deal, but after my last race (etu cup Holten) I took the necessary precautions and didn't run for 2 weeks. Considering my eventful past of injuries, this seemed to be the best strategy to me and my coach . Better safe than sorry! After the 2 weeks, I gradually started running again alternating outdoors with AlterG running, a great piece of equipment! Besides that, always focussing on strenght & core-work and making sure the body is ready to handle the demands of the sport (foamrolling, mobility, etc)
The last days of july I went on trainingcamp in the German mountains. I joined another Belgian squad, PTC coaching. A great bunch of athletes and an epic scenery to train in. I couldn't have asked for much more. Dealing with a heatwave whilst tackling 5-hour rides did make things interesting.
Putting in some good work on camp, I gained the next few percentages to feel ready for the next block of racing to come.
Excited to see what I can do!
